ADD-ON

ADD-ON project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of integrating various technologies of optical sensors into a unique Optical Sensor Network (OSN) able to fulfil the avionics requirements. Among them, sol-gel sensors for large surface on-ground SHM and fibre-based sensors (FBGs) for in-flight SHM monitoring will be studied. In addition, the OSN will be able to self-evaluate its integrity, through integrated solutions to probe the connections and bending issues.

PhotonFirst primary role in the project is to be a technology and solution provider for fibre optic sensing equipment and material. Secondary role is contributing to sensor design, experiments, and test evaluations, as well as road-mapping towards business case exploitation. Specific activities include OSN demonstration, Sol-Gel waveguide technology implementation, FBG sensing implementation.
